Follow in the footsteps of Commodore Ralph Middleton Munroe, yacht designer, Coconut Grove pioneer, and founder of the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club.
The Washington’s Birthday Regatta originated at Munroe’s boathouse in 1887.

This fun race is open to all vessels of traditional design and rig regardless of construction: Mud Hens, Sea Pearls, Bullseyes, Sharpies, Bahama Dinghies, Cat Boats, Sloops, Gaff-Rigs etc. Fiberglass boats are permitted. In the spirit of the Commodore’s “shoal-draft” designs, only boats with a draft of 4 feet or less will be allowed entry.
The regatta will take place Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 on Biscayne Bay just off shore of The Barnacle in Coconut Grove and is organized by The Barnacle Society, Inc. and The Barnacle Historic State Park. The trophy ceremony, and the traditional chowder party, will take place in the evening following the race.
